Hi, My name is Céline!

Let me tell you a little more about myself, and about the story behind this house. I’m originally from Belgium and currently live in Malta, but my in-laws are from Noto, Sicily—a place I fell in love with from the very first visit. Every time I return, it feels like coming home. The people, the vibrant flavors of the food, the rhythm of everyday life, and that unmistakable sense of dolce vita in a chaotic world… it all captured my heart.

In February 2024, an unexpected opportunity came my way: a small house for sale in the historic center of Noto, at a price too attractive to ignore. Tucked away in a traditional Sicilian vannella, it sits in a tiny street where neighbors chat from door to door and balcony to balcony—and yes, they will most likely talk to you too!

Owning a house in Sicily was never part of my plan, but I thought, why not? As a foreigner, how cool is it to have your own corner of Sicily? The house was technically livable, but it needed a fresh touch. So in May 2024, I began the renovation with one vision in mind: to transform it into a cosy little retreat for travelers who want to feel at home.

Renovating 40 square meters took exactly one year—filled with challenges, stress, surprises, and a lot of determination. But in the end, this once-forgotten house became a charming, welcoming cottage. By July 2025, it was finally ready to host its very first guest.

If you are curious, you can discover the before-and-after of my renovation journey in this article.

I hope to welcome you soon to my little house in Noto.

With love,

Céline
